Always Get Copies of Anything You Sign

If you sign something, you should have immediate copies of it. Don't wait until tomorrow, or other reasons like the copier not working. Further, feel free to take the time to review everything you sign... after all, you are making a commitment by signing the documents. If you like, have the broker walk you through everything. If you want to speed up the process, review templates or blank forms of everything that you WILL be signing ahead of time, and then carefully note any changes when the real forms come.

Now and then, we hear word of forms with forged signatures or questionable documentation. Making sure you have copies of everything allows you to have better course of action should your copies "magically" look different than their copies down the road.

The mortgage broker should be happy to provide copies, on the spot, of everything. If he or she is not, consider going elsewhere. Don't just get copies, read before you sign them, and then insist on the copies.
